Itinerary
| Day 1 | Arrival ![]() Welcome to one of the most remote areas in the world! Today you will arrive in the central city of Kamchatka, Petropavlovsk-Kamchatskiy. Your driver will take you to the hotel where you will have some time to rest before your Russian voyage. |
| Day 2 | Avacha Bay ![]() Today you will board the Spirit of Enderby and will be introduced to its friendly crew and your fellow passengers. Tonight you will leave the beautiful Avacha Bay and begin your amazing northern adventure! |
| Day 3 | Kamchatka Peninsula ![]() Today you will spend cruising along the Kamchatka Peninsula, gliding around Vestnik Bay and sailing past Utashud Island. You will see many species of northern birds including pigeons and Brunnich's guillemots against a breathtaking background of snow-covered volcanoes. |
| Day 4 | Onekotan Island ![]() Onekotan, a unique island near Kamchatka, has two water-filtered caldera. It has rich fauna, gorgeous landscapes, and is famous for its island-within-an-island. This afternoon you will enjoy an expedition to Paramushir Island, a mountainous volcanic island with five active volcanoes. |
| Day 5 | Simushir Island ![]() Today you will visit Simushir Island, an island created by volcanoes. It was first explored in 1774 by Russian explorer Gerasim Izmailov and until 1994 it served as a Russian submarine base. The remaining bits of naval base can be seen during your visit to this island made from fire. |
| Day 6 | Bukhta Krashennikova ![]() Today you will enjoy an expedition to Bukhta Krasheninnikova on Paramushir Island. This mountainous island holds five active volcanoes as well as a large population of brown bears. |
| Day 7 | Volcano Mutnovskaya Sopka ![]() Early this morning you will enter the Russkaya Fiord, a spectacular feature within Avachinsky Bay. This fiord will give you fantastic views of the Volcano Mutnovskaya Sopka (2322 metres) and a superb opportunity to watch wildlife from the zodiacs or during an onshore stroll. |
| Day 8 | Kronotsky Preserve ![]() One of the oldest Nature Preserves in Russia, the Kronotsky Preserve was established in 1882. It totals over one million square hectares and plays an important role in the conservation of the Kamchatka Peninsula's diverse flora and fauna. There are over 763 vascular plant species, 232 bird species, and 58 species of animals on record. You will explore the area around the Chazma River on the northern end of the Reserve and the anchor in Kamenistaya Bay, a fantastic area for observing brown bears. |
| Day 9 | Commander Islands ![]() The Commander Islands may be small, but their shores are bursting with history. They alone saw the extinct Steller's Sea Cow and were named for the legendary explorer Commander Vitus Bering who first observed that Asia and the Americas are two separate continents. You will visit a small museum in the village of Nikolskoye where you will be introduced to the culture of the local people. The Commander Islands are home to a large number of birds, including Horned and Tufted Puffins, Crested and Parakeet Auklets, Thick Billed Murres, Red-Legged Kittiwakes, and Red-Faced Cormorants. If you are lucky, you may also spot Harbour Seals, Steller's Sea Lions, and Northern Fur Seals. |
| Day 11 | Zhupanova River ![]() You will negotiate the shallow waters of the Zhupanova River today. This gentle voyage presents superb opportunities for bird watching and nature walks. You are likely to spot up to forty species of birds, including such unique Siberian species as the Yellow Billed Loon, the Yellow-Breasted Bunting, the Greenshank, the Far-Eastern Curlew, and the Common Terns. In the ancient birch forest along the river waits a habitat of rare Steller's Sea Eagles. |
| Day 12 | Departure ![]() This morning you will disembark from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatskiy. Transfers to the airport may be arranged. |
